Good Morning everyone,

I’m looking forward to trying these out once they make it into the distributed zip file.

I’ld also like to propose a possible new module which would primarily aid interactivity in the classroom/lecture theatre. The basic idea would be to combine Ron’s QR Code stuff with a template enabling users to choose a response aim their phones at the associated QR Code and add their ‘vote’ or ‘comment’ to a text wall.

I could probably write it myself in perl, but that wouldn’t be terribly helpful to anyone else. Unfortunately it would be well beyond my current skills with php. My initial thought is that three QR Codes could be provided, e.g. ‘Yes/Agree’, No/Disagree,Comment/Question.

The Template would present the viewer with some text and the three QR Codes. Users could click on one of the QR codes which would actually by a URL to a php script which updated a text wall. The Comment/Question option would additionally present the user with a form in which they could type some text on their device and then submit that. The Image for the QR Code could be also linked to the script via a conventional hyperlink, i.e. you’ld click on the QR code rather than use your phone.

There are a number of sites which enable you to generate QR Codes on the fly so this should not be too problematic, and by embedding a large random number into the URL for each instance you could differentiate between them.

This technique could probably be extended to other templates where it would be useful to solicit feedback from users, e.g. the ‘stimulating question’ type of template.

Kindest Regards,
Thomas

Hello,

2 new modules for XOT - should work fine - happy to take on feedback. Simile is quite complex, decision tree is very basic, but with some skinning could be quite powerful
