See below. We could do with elimating the media upload issue, which still seems to be happening on some new installs,

Subject: Xerte for Students - incoming problem?

Hi

I have the initial meeting for my HEA Digital Literacy in the Disciplines projects coming up next week (9 projects) but I’m hearing rumblings that the buggyness of Xerte is going to be a problem for committing students to produce marked work with it. I’ll know more next week when I meet them, but this media upload problem seems to be a worry.

I see there has been a thread about this in the support forum at http://xerte.org.uk/index.php?option=com_kunena&view=topic&catid=4&id=69&Itemid=759&lang=en&limitstart=6

I’m not a php developer either but I do understand the principles having managed servers in the past.

This DL in the Disciplines series of projects will establish not only a network of Xerte installations in HE with the HEA but also a habit of empowering students in a number of disciplines to be creative with it – and they can be a grumbly bunch when it gives them grief. If you have any suggestions as to how I might placate their fears then please let me know before I meet the Academics on Wednesday next week.

I have deliberately bound all the projects to Xerte as I can imagine the benefits. Are these issues just teething troubles or is there an ‘expectations management’ I should address? Do I need some installation/configuration training and if so who would be the best to provide it?

Terry.
