I've been trying to track this down and it's happening for others too.

It very oddly seems to vary by browser.

For me media upload works with IE and Chrome but not Safari or Firefox

Seems to only be a problem for me in Firefox - IE8 & Chrome are working
normally

Likewise, on xampp using the current trunk, I can't upload media into a
project either.

 

This might be a problem in the current zip too.

Another problem, not sure if this has come up on here before - I know there
have been a few uploading media problems recently but I can't find a recent
one about this.

 

I can't upload any media using current files.  I can select a file from a
folder fine, the FileLocation appears in the wizard and the xml is being
updated but nothing's being copied into the user files media folder.
