Hi Julian,

It would have been good to have had time to test all the possible issues,
but there wasn't, so I had to leave the Provider to undertake this. I am
fairly convinced that it is a problem with security under IIS as deployed on
the SAVO. There were certainly no problems when I did an installation in
Peterborough last Monday. I have just tested the example we created and it
works fine. So,

1) The version at Peterborough was version 400 from the SVN, the
version for SAVO was version 393. If there is anything in the versions that
might make a difference, I will re-install at SAVO.

2) The version at Peterborough is on a LINUX host under APACHE, the
version at SAVO is running on Windows using IIS. It is possible that the
directories were not created by the software with sufficient rights.

3) I am able to retrieve the Nottingham.rlt file from Peterborough by
http-ing it from home directly. This does not work for SAVO.

So, unless there IS a known bug in connection with this which was fixed
between V393 and V400, I am driven to the ineluctable conclusion that the
subdirectories are not being created in Windows with the correct IUSER
rights. I'm not sure if an installer can deal with this, on a hosted server,
so it maybe down to SAVO and myself to try to sort out how to change the
permissions. However, the Moodle install seems to be working for them, so it
must be possible in some way or another.

A problem with permissions would also foul up the Import routines,
presumably.

Kindest Regards,

Thomas

When you installed it, did you not test it?

Subject: [Xerte-dev] Importing into XoT 1.8

Good Evening Ladies and Gentlemen,

Following the installation of XERTE 1.8 last Friday, the Provider has
reported an error which prevents any object being previewed or played.

The error message that appears on the screen is:

"ERROR: The file modules/xerte/parent_templates/Nottingham/Nottingham.rlt
failed to load."

However the template path appears to have been set correctly and the
Nottingham.rlt file is there and appears to be uncorrupted. An echo
statement in config.php shows the Template File root as

D:/hshome/c98804/suffolklearningconsortium.org/xerte/modules/

Where 'xerte' is the name of the 'toolkits' directory

There is also a problem importing objects which may be related to this. The
import never completes and there are no error messages to indicate why. I
have set "$development = true;" and "ini_set('error_reporting', 1);" in
config .php but I am not seeing anything in the error_logs directory other
than the readme.txt file and an empty file called
'blank_document_for_zip.txt"

The server is a Windows Server and is therefore using IIS. It may be an
obscure permissions issue.

If anyone has any ideas about how to fix this (I don't think you can set
permissions on these servers trivially) I'ld welcome some guidance. Moodle
2.2.1 is running OK on the server.

Kindest Regards,

Thomas
