[Xerte-dev] Re: Changing Ownership of a Project in Toolkits

I think the label on that button in management ought to be transfer or
change ownership rather than give template. It does seem to remove it from
the original owners workspace but doesn't always seem to reach the
destination workspace.

give doesn't give away, it gives a copy

the management give, "transfers" it - so you shouldn't see it with the
original owner anymore.

works for me on my localhost install just updated from trunk but the Give
template functionality doesn't seem 100% reliable. e.g. give a template from
guest user 2 to Pat Blair and sometimes it appears in Pat Blair's workspace
and other times it doesn't.

Also just to clarify this is different than the giving option in normal lo
properties e.g. it does seem to change ownership and retain the LO ID when
it works. That said I still seem to recall seeing the term change ownership
at some point but perhaps I dreamt it! ;-)

Definitely not working when I change that file, not sessions thing, so it
would appear that is_user_admin() is returning false. Just about reaching
the point where it would be quicker to just manually do it.

I'm not sure why it isn't there, given that's where I would have written
it......

Oh man, we're pretty slack here at Notts when it comes to keeping in synch

It used to actually be on the management page, not on the properties window.
There was a combo box.

Lines 37-57 of website_code/php/management/user_templates.php in the SVN
show it.

Looks like you need to upgrade your install.

Yeah, I go to user templates, select me, the templates list opens, I click
view on one, then properties, but then I can't give it. it does appear I can
share it though. But here's another potential problem: in this case (usual
one) staff member has left, didn't give their projects, new staff member has
asked for about 40 projects to be 'given' to her. If they are in use, the
URLs shouldn't change, so I could share them with her, and leave the URLs
intact, but then she can't do all the things she will need to be able to do.
If I give her the projects, the URLs change. I know this is just a FOL, and
I'm not sure how else it could be, but it's a bit of a pain - especially for
40 odd projects.

Are you using the managment page? Under Users templates then clicking View
alongside a template you should see a give this template option?

I seem to recall there was also a change ownership option somewhere but
can't find it at the moment

I thought I'd be able to change owner of a project in the admin pages by
bringing up the project's properties and gifting a copy to someone else: I
get 'sorry, you don't have right to the template'.

Any bright idea on how I can easily give the admin user rights to do this
Pat?
