[Xerte-dev] Re: navigating to page name

This stuff is getting more like an elearning developers tools

>From my first experience of Xerte I always thought of it as an e-learning
development tool. It's strength lay in the ability to offer users simple
content creation as well as making the editor accessible so that you could
develop your own new page templates. The enhancements in 2.18 hopefully
will encourage a wider range of XOT users to consider creating their own
new page templates and to share them with the XOT community.

To me Xerte and XOT are two sides of the same coin, though I appreciate
developments with respect to HTML5 may eventually change this.

Do we want an ’Advanced’ category?

Some of the xwd forms are getting a bit busy with the addition of the
display text. I know time and resource are limited. So let's keep the
advanced section and, where forms are getting busy I will move the display
stuff into the advanced section. Would it be possible for the advanced
section to be able to indicate when there was some advanced content e.g. to
be greyed out or the option only displayed if the form offered an advanced
section? If we could have one more section would it make sense to have an
"instructions" section where people could put any <info> blocks?

Do we want nested menus (he says a little nervously) on the insert menu…?

My only issue with menus at the moment is what to call the "routed pages".
Some of the menus e.g. Interactivity have quite a few entries, but if push
came to shove you could always create another menu option and split the
interactions up e.g. Drag and Drop. So I can't see any immediate need for
nested menus on the insert menu.

Kind regards

Johnathan

PS Sorry it's not long enough for a cuppa, but you might squeeze in a
biscuit :-)
