<div dir="ltr">Using good paper also helps. Bioquip sells good acid free paper for pinned specimens and a different paper for ethanol preserved material. <div><br></div><div>It is really a problem to find a good printer for labels in ethanol. Most of the stories from colleagues are based printers that are out of stock. Similarly, our printers are out of stock so there is no point in me suggesting them. Note that before we use new ones, we always make test labels and put them in the sun and vials with labels on shakers to try to get an idea of wear and tear after a year in these circumstances. This is not very helpful if you need one now but many samples I have been sent have the letters either faded or fallen off when in ethanol.<div><br></div><div>We iron all of our labels before they go into ethanol. I think it helps to incorporate the ink into the rag but we have never done a test with and without ironing.
