size=2 face=Arial>Afraid not Ximo, but whilst we are talking Syrphini, I'm
pretty sure I've got a new (at least to Britain) <EM>Dasysyrphus </EM>that is
very close to <EM>venustus</EM> (alongside which it was flying). It averages
darker, smaller, narrow bands on the tergites, male frons much darker, female
frons with much smaller dust spots. It was from Scottsih native pine wood areas
in late May-early June 2013, when spring was delayed by 4-5 weeks (and<EM>
Salix</EM> was still in blossom!). Martin Speight has already provided some
info, but interested to hear what others think. See this link for images:
