Dear all,

Please find attached a pdf of our chapter on Syrphidae in Volume 3 of the Manual of
Afrotropical Diptera.

It took a long time for the volume 3 to get printed and it has been a while since we were
allowed to make additional changes but we have done our best to make it as up-to-date as
possible even though we were not allowed to make all the necessary changes. For instance,
Ximo/Gunilla/Jeff’s paper on Sphaerophoria/Exallandra/Loveridgeana has been added and the
key has changed accordingly, but we were not allowed to make drastic changes to the
synopsis of the (sub)genena. I assume this is how it goes with book chapters…

Anyhow, we hope you will enjoy the chapter and it will provide a good basis for future
work!
