Dear Leif,

Most cheap laser printers will do a decent job these days. I use a Samsung
2165 now. It costed 60 euro's and after 5 years it starts to give grey spots
where they should not be. My former printer only stopped because the
producer did not make a software update for the new windows. After 14 years
or so.

However, when floating in ethanol, parts of specimens may slowly scrape the
toner from the paper labels. Someone told me the toner will stay much longer
if you iron the printed labels before using them (probably between sheets or
so). I did not try this, because I store most of my specimens dry pinned
with the label on the pin.

Best wishes,

Wouter

Onderwerp: [Syrphidae] Printer for labels

Dear all

I am looking for a printer that can print labels to be used in vials
containing larvae or genitals in alcohol or glycerin.

Canon Pixma Pro-S10 can be used for this, but is out of production.

Writing labels by hand is no good option for me.

Can anybody recommend an affordable printer?

Best wishes

Leif
