11th International Symposium on Syrphidae,
Barcelonnette, France,
6-11  September 2021.

Dear Fellow Entomologists,

Following months of uncertainty, it seems that the COVID-19 situation 
will eventually improve, thanks to vaccination in numerous countries.

It is thus with great pleasure that we have finally opened the 
registration for the forthcoming 11th International Symposium on 
Syrphidae, to be held in Barcelonnette, France, from September 6th to 
11th, 2021.

The schedule is as follows:
Monday 6 September 2021: Welcoming of delegates at Marseille or directly 
in Barcelonnette. Transport by bus from Marseille (departure 15:00) to 
Barcelonnette.
Tuesday 7 September 2021: Start of the Symposium
Thursday 9 September 2021: Closure of the Symposium
Friday 10 September 2021: Excursion to the Mercantour National Park.
Saturday 11 September 2021: Departure of delegates. Bus from 
Barcelonnette (departure 09:00) to Marseille


The talks and poster presentations will be organized in the following
themes:
1) Taxonomy and systematics
2) Phylogeny and DNA barcoding
3) Conservation and monitoring
4) Faunistics and biogeography
5) Functional and applied ecology
6) Open topics on Syrphidae
A separate room equipped with binocular microscopes will be available 
for workshops or expert advice.

Accommodation
Double and triple rooms are available on the premises at the Seolane 
Center.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, a few of these may also be booked by 
single delegates upon request. Nearby hotels are also available.

Registration fees

Early registration, before May 15th, 2021
Students, full board: EUR 250
Participants, full-board: EUR 450
Participants, without accommodation: EUR 350
Invited speakers: EUR 0

Note that “full board” includes registration, meals and accommodation.
Category "Students" includes PhD students. A copy of a valid student ID 
in pdf format should be given at registration.
Registration for students is automatically full board.

Late registration, between May 16th, 2021 and 15 July 15th, 2021)
Students: EUR 300
Participants, full-board: EUR 550
Participants, without accommodation: EUR 450

Options not included in registration fees:
Excursion to the Mercantour National Park on September 10th, incl. 
packed lunch - EUR 45
Round-trip Marseille railway station - Barcelonnette by coach on 
September 6th and 11th:- EUR 80

Announcement for students:
Thanks to the S. W. WILLISTON DIPTERA RESEARCH FUND, some support is 
available to students coming to the congress. To be eligible for 
support, students should present a poster or give an oral presentation 
at the congress. Students applying for support should NOT proceed to 
payment of their registration until asked to do so. Application for 
support is to be sent by email to the organizers at 
syrphidae11 at sciencesconf.org, including a pdf of proof of student status 
and a pdf with the authors, title and abstract of proposed talk or 
poster.

Submissions of abstracts for posters and oral presentations will open on 
16 April 2021.
