Dear syrphid community,

My name is Jonathan Vogel and I recently started my PhD position working on European Figitid wasps (Hymenoptera: Cynipoidea) at the Museum Koenig in Bonn within the GBOLIII: Dark Taxa project.

I was hoping to get in contact with some European syrphid-hatchers in the hope of some nice bycatch which I would love to study within my PhD. In particular, I am talking about Aspicerinae figitids, which are parasitoids of syrphid larvae. If there is any material and you would like to loan it to me or to Ximo Mengual, it would be a very important contribution to the research on Aspicerinae since major revisions of this subfamily are based on very few specimens. They are only rarely collected by sweep netting and malaise traps.

With best regards
Jonathan Vogel
