Subject: New morphological structure in Syrphidae

Dear Friends and Colleagues,

The "ventral circular structure" is a newly discovered small but distinctive morphological structure in the female reproductive tract of Syrphidae. A comparative study reveals the vcs to belong to the ground plan of the family. Our publication (attached) describes and discusses this structure and describes additional aspects of the female reproductive tract in Episyrphus balteatus.

With best regards,

Marion Kotrba.
