Dear Marlin

Just a short comment about nomenclature used for identification of your specimen.

After Laska et al 2006. Based on the analysis of immature stages, the generic name Ischiodon Sack, 1913 syn. n. was proposed as a junior synonym of the genus Simosyrphus Bigot, 1882. This study also included molecular analysis but a current deeper study of phylogeny of Scaeva-Eupeodes (and related, this include Ischiodon & Symosyrphus specie) (Mengual et al., in prep) recognize both genera as valid taxa.

P. Láska, C. Pérez-Bañón, L. Mazánek, S. Rojo, G. Ståhls, M. A. Marcos-García, V. Bicík & Dušek. 2006. Taxonomy of the genera Scaeva, Simosyrphus and Ischiodon (Diptera: Syrphidae): Descriptions of immature stages and status of taxa. Eur. J. Entomol. 103: 637-655
Mengual, G. Ståhls & S. Rojo. 2015. New insights into the Scaeva - Eupeodes evolutionary lineage. 8th International Symposium on Syrphidae, Monschau, Germany, 4/8-6-2015
