Dear all,

I am sending this email from ZooKeys about Global Editorial Networks
(GENs). I find it interesting for our community. Please, take a look and
feel free to join!

Best regards,

Ximo

Dear ZooKeys Fellows,

We are pleased to announce that ZooKeys had one more successful year of
continuing growth and implementation of novel approaches in publishing and
dissemination. Some interesting statistics on that can be found in a
recently published
Editorial<http://www.pensoft.net/journals/zookeys/article/4516/accelerating-innovative-publishing-in-taxonomy-and-systematics-250-issues-of-zookeys>(attached
as PDF as well).

We express our sincere thanks to all of you - our authors, reviewers and
editors - for your continuous support and to wish you a Happy, Prosperous
and Healthy New Year!

We would like also to inform you about a new and important initiative of
ZooKeys called Global Editorial Networks
(GENs)<http://www.pensoft.net/journals/zookeys/about/Editorial%20Team#Global%20Editorial%20Networks%20%28GENs%29>launched
to respond to current trends of linking biodiversity information
and synthesizing knowledge on a particular taxon.

Global Editorial Networks
(GENs)<http://www.pensoft.net/journals/zookeys/about/Editorial%20Team#Global%20Editorial%20Networks%20%28GENs%29>are
community-based groups of editors who cover various science subjects
dedicated to study of a particular taxon (usually at the class, order, or
family rank). Such subjects can be related to or go beyond taxonomy and may
include anatomy, morphology, physiology, bionomics, ecology, genetics,
genomics, molecular biology, evolutionary biology, paleontology,
behavioural science, etc.

The first GENs are already being formed (e.g., for
Myriapoda<http://www.pensoft.net/journals/zookeys/about/Editorial%20Team#Myriapoda>,
Araneae<http://www.pensoft.net/journals/zookeys/about/Editorial%20Team#Araneae>,
Polyneoptera<http://www.pensoft.net/journals/zookeys/about/Editorial%20Team#Polyneoptera>,
Chrysomelidae<http://www.pensoft.net/journals/zookeys/about/Editorial%20Team#Chrysomelidae>,
Mollusca
<http://www.pensoft.net/journals/zookeys/about/Editorial%20Team#Mollusca>and
Herpetology<http://www.pensoft.net/journals/zookeys/about/Editorial%20Team#Herpetology>).
Sharing responsibilities across editors within a GEN will ensure that no
significant work overload for individual editors is to be ex! pected.

GEN's will be formed following historical traditions in studying a taxon
within learned societies. Colleagues who would be interested in joining the
initiative as subject editors are kindly invited to fill in a short Editor's
Application Form <http://pensoft.net/gen_form.htm>. Researchers at early
stages of their career should not hesitate to apply, as well.

The current ZooKeys editors do not need to fill in the form of course, but
are encouraged to suggest appropriate candidates within their area of
interest, either through the application Form<http://pensoft.net/gen_form.htm>,
or in an email to
zookeys at pensoft.net<https://webaccess.si.edu/OWA/redir.aspx?C=77TVmXXczE-EWUGY8IRIzFN3A3BMnM9IzMnLQsp7Zn5BuL_Iy3U9vWZexrEWsW2QOVLGHzPVUdM.&URL=mailto%3azookeys%40pensoft.net>
.

Please feel free to distribute this message through appropriate taxon-based
societies, email to interest groups, or put on list servers!

Let's put taxonomy at the core of modern integrated research!

Yours faithfully,

Terry Erwin and Lyubomir Penev
