> Symposium
> The symposium will be held at the Natural History Museum Naturalis in Leiden (www.naturalis.nl). The museum is situated near the central railway station of Leiden and can be reached by a ten minute walk from there. 
> All presentations will be held in the auditorium of the museum, which is provided with all necessary comforts. Lunches will be taken at the museum restaurant.
> More information on the symposium will be available at www.naturalis.nl/syrphidae. 
> 
> Registration
> We would like to ask everybody to fill in the registration form (also to be found at www.naturalis.nl/syrphidae) and return it before June 1st. If you already sent a pre-registration, you won> '> t have to fill in all information again. 
> Mind you, people who need a visa to get into the Netherlands. Be sure to arrange that in time, if you need a letter of invitation please let us know in time!
> 
> Registration fee
> The registration fee for the symposium is set at 100,- Euro if paid before August 1st, after this date the fee will be 125,- Euro. This price includes registration, lunches and a welcome drink Friday afternoon. Participation of the fieldtrip on Monday 5th will cost an extra 20,- Euro, this includes transportation and a simple lunch.
> For people not participating in the fieldtrip on Monday 5th the fee will be be 100,- Euro, if paid before August 1st and after this date 125,- Euro.
> For people that do want to go on the fieldtrip on Monday, the fee will bee 120,- Euro if paid before August 1st and after this date 145,- Euro.
> Participants are responsible for their own costs and should try to finance their own trip and registration fee. If the organizing committee succeeds in raising funds for the symposium, part of it can be used for financial compensation for the needed. It is up to the committee to decide who will get compensation. At this moment we can> '> t promises anything.

> Payment

> The organizing committee made reservations for several rooms at three different hotels in Leiden. Hotels are pretty expensive in Leiden, single rooms start at around 90,- Euros, a double room will start at 100 Euro. Therefore it will be best to share a room as much as possible. You can use one of these pre-reserved rooms or you can book an yourself and may look at the following website: www.leidenpromotie.nl/horeca/index_acc.htm.
> If you want e cheaper room you can try some of the other cities in the vicinity of Leiden, like Amsterdam, Den Haag, or the airport Schiphol. You can easily reach Leiden from these places by train, approximately 30 minutes.

> Presentation
> Anyone who wants to give a oral or poster presentation or show a poster is kindly requested to give the definite title before June 1st. For oral presentations in Powerpoint we would like to receive a copy of the presentation before > August 1st. If it> '> s not more than 5 Mb it can be sent by e-mail (syrphidae at naturalis.nl), otherwise we would like to receive a Cd (address given below).

> Abstracts
> Abstracts of talks and posters are to be submitted before July 1st.  All abstracts should contain the following information (see attached example):
> Title; authors, including the address of the first author; a brief summary of the contents of the talk or poster. Abstracts should not exceed 300 words.

> Excursion
> On Monday September 5th we will organise a field excursion. It> '> s not certain yet where we will go. Probably we will visit the sand dunes along our North sea coast. There we find grasslands, open sandy areas and deciduous forests.
> The costs for the excursion will be 20,- Euro, this includes a simple lunch.
