Clitellaria ephippium is widely distributed but not frequent in various =
parts of France. Michel Martinez could provide more accurate data. I =
have found it in well-drained scrub woodland of Corylus, invading =
ancient pasturage, in both France and northern Italy. It can be =
collected by Malaise trap. It can also be found in more closed-canopy =
woodland, where it rests (as an adult) on the foliage of shrubs, or on =
the ground, in small patches of sunlight that penetrate the canopy. It =
flies quite fast, but erratically, within about 1m of the ground.
