<html><head><meta http-equiv="content-type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8"></head><body dir="auto">David, I first learned the balance curriculum from some thing that attributed it to you, I believe, but you’re right it was during the battle for the reading wars.<div><br></div><div>In the independent, a local paper here that is free, they announce that the school board had taken on the Witten wisdom because of the science of reading but it also then said it was against the Whole Language approach which they were throwing out now because it was non-functional. I imagine she was also surprised to learn that. And I know that our RHF colleague, Gay Su Pinnell, has sometimes received the same attribution.
