Dear Colleagues,

I have had a request from one of our partners to promote an opportunity to take place in a project they are running with Skate Nottingham -

We're working with Skate Nottingham for their Skateboarding in the City Festival, which will be 27 Sept - 3 Oct, and we've got a grant from UKRI to support the engagement of researchers in the programme. We're keen to open it up as broadly as possible - there could be links with psychology (failure, resilience), materials science (skateboard/obstacle design), sociology (youth culture), sports science (skills, muscles), medicine (twisted ankles and broken bones), physics (momentum, tricks)... We think there could be some really fun content here and a really interesting way of doing public engagement. Audiences could be children & young people or adults and formats could be workshops for young people, activities at skate spots, exhibitions/installations, videos, online content. We can support people to develop their ideas with us and with local skaters, and cover costs for expenses and materials.
The festival will include a skateboarding competition, film showings and hopefully the unveiling of the new Sussex Street skate spot (near the new college around Broadmarsh).
If you are interested in learning more please email Megan Shore from Ignite! megan at ignitefutures.org.uk<mailto:megan at ignitefutures.org.uk> by 30 July.

Best wishes,

Maria
