Apologies for cross posting.

This event on Wednesday next week at 12.15 in Pope C15 may be of interest to you.

An interesting video about how Professor Walter Sinnott-Armstrong of Duke University in the US (who will be speaking via Skype) creates videos for the course he teaches via Coursera may be found here:

SUBJECT: Elearning community Wed 6th February - Open Learning and MOOCs

The February e-Learning Community lunchtime seminar will be about Open Learning and MOOCs.

Open learning and MOOC are the buzzwords of the year. Find out more this February!

Steve Stapleton will talk about the Paris Project http://comms.nottingham.ac.uk/learningtechnology/category/paris/ and some of the resources, particularly on sustainability, that have been produced and have won awards. This will interest those who attended the December eLearning Community session and heard a bit about how the resources were turned into eBooks.

Sally Hanford and Helen Whitehead will talk about their experiences as students in MOOCs (Massive Open Online Courses). What is a MOOC? http://comms.nottingham.ac.uk/learningtechnology/2013/01/03/what-is-a-mooc/

We will be joined via Skype by Walter Sinnott-Armstrong of Duke University in the US who teaches the "Think Again: How to Reason and Argue" MOOC course via Coursera: http://www.coursera.org/course/thinkagain

Date: Wednesday, February 6th, 2013

Time: 12.30 (hot drinks from 12.15)

Location: C15, Pope Building, University Park

To be sure we have enough tea and coffee, please e-mail is-learning-team at nottingham.ac.uk<mailto:is-learning-team at nottingham.ac.uk> if you intend to be present.
