<span class="s1">I personally have very fond memories of Ron. We first met, I believe, at PME 28 in Bergen and became friends. We met up also at PME30 conference (PME 30) in Prague, Czech Republic, from July 16–21, 2006. Hosted by Charles University - exactly
20 years ago today. I was always impressed with his sense of humour, </span>and his vice-like handshake. </p>

<span class="s1">I had the privilege of being asked by Ron to accompany him on a visit to the Jewish Cemetery in Prague. I considered it an honour that he wanted to share that experience. It was a moving experience for me, but a very traumatic one for Ron. </span></p>

Dear All, It is with sadness that we share that Professor Ron Tzur, a long-term member of the PME community, passed away on July 8th after a long battle with colon cancer. Ron was a researcher, scholar, mentor, and teacher. He brought a deep understanding of
Piaget to his work on children’s multiplicative thinking and fraction knowledge. Ron was deeply committed to his students and sought to create community wherever he was. Ron also loved to dance. He was a regular at Israeli dancing, and at PME gatherings, he
was usually the first on the dance floor and the last off.</p>
