[Maths-Education] Book launch for Ole Skovsmose’s Critical Mathematics Education

Dear Colleagues.



I am very pleased to announce a book launch event for Ole Skovsmose’s Critical Mathematics Education book (Springer). The flyer is attached. Please distribute it widely to your networks to anyone potentially interested. This will be a free talk by Ole Skovsmose with additions from Paul Ernest (author of the recent review of Ole's book at https://www.exeter.ac.uk/research/groups/education/pmej/pome41/index.html - Philosophy of Mathematics Education Journal).


There will also be plenty of time for Q&A chaired by Alex Moore, founder of the Critical Philosophical & Psychoanalytic Institute for Mathematics Education<https://www.cppi.me/> which is are hosting the event.


Ole's book is the capstone of a career devoted to developing critical mathematics education. It pulls together all his ideas of social learning, including the dispossessed, critiquing both mathematics teaching and mathematics itself from deep theoretical as well as everyday practice perspectives.


A central theme of Ole's work is dialogical teaching and interaction, and this event will reflect this, with a significant amount of time devoted to audience Q&A


We have timed the event for access across the Americas, Europe and much of the East.


Note down the date Tuesday 23rd April (morning - Americas, afternoon - Europe, evening - Mid & Far East)



The event is free and on Zoom. A Zoom link will be provided to registrants upon registering. An international and wide-ranging audience of scholars will be present.
