From D.K.Jones at soton.ac.uk Wed May 2 11:58:45 2018 From: D.K.Jones at soton.ac.uk (Jones D.K.) Date: Wed, 2 May 2018 10:58:45 +0000 Subject: [Maths-Education] CERME11 TWG4, Geometry Teaching and Learning: call for papers Message-ID: <5A5A76258A69AF499C3C136F4CF8945AE95F9AF8@SRV00046.soton.ac.uk> CERME 11: TWG 4, Geometry Teaching and Learning Leader: Joris Mithalal (France), joris.mithalal at univ-lyon1.fr Co-leaders: Michela Maschietto (Italy), Keith Jones (United Kingdom), Chrysi Papadaki (Germany) You are cordially invited to attend the 11th Congress of the European Society for Research in Mathematics Education (CERME11), hosted by the Freudenthal Group, in collaboration with the Freudenthal Institute, of Utrecht University. CERME11 takes place in Utrecht, the Netherlands, from the 6-10 February 2019. Immediately preceding CERME11 is a YERME day for newer researchers. Scope and focus of TWG 4, Geometry Teaching and Learning TWG4 addresses issues about the teaching and learning of geometry. TWG4 recognises that the many forms of geometry education - Euclidean, non-Euclidean, analytical, and so on - involve various aspects, including, but not limited to, linking real-world experiments to abstract constructs, using drawings, proving, resources, curricula, etc. Within this there is the role of material activity, the nature of visualization and spatial skills, and issues of language, proof and argumentation. TWG4 invite prospective participants to submit papers or posters related to one or more of these topics, based on research work, either philosophical or experimental. We suggest participants make explicit the main scope of their research: epistemological, cognitive, instrumental, semiotic, sociological, historical, etc. To help ensure continuity of the group's work from previous CERME conferences, it is helpful to consult the TWG sections of the CERME proceedings at: http://www.mathematik.uni-dortmund.de/~erme/index.php?slab=proceedings The main deadline for submission is 15 September 2018. Further information about TWG4, Geometry Teaching and Learning, can be found at https://cerme11.org/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/TWG_04_cfp.pdf Full conference details are available at: https://cerme11.org/ Important dates * 15th July 2018: Early bird submission (please refer to the 'early bird' section of the website) * 15th September 2018: Initial submission by authors in the submission system. * 3rd November 2018: Initial decisions on papers and posters sent. * 24th November 2018: The authors submit a revised version if needed. * 5th December 2018: Final decisions sent. * 12th December 2018: Final version uploaded. * 13th January 2019: Papers available on CERME 11 website.
