Dear Colleagues,

Please forward the following announcement to the maths-education at nottingham list and any other interested colleagues.

Many thanks and best wishes,

Irene

CERME10: Thematic Working Group 14

University Mathematics Education

CERME 10 will take place in Dublin from the 1-5th February 2017 (see http://cerme10.org<http://cerme10.org/>)

We would like to invite colleagues to submit to TWG 14.

The scope and focus of the TWG is the following:
Research on postsecondary mathematics education is a relatively young field which has been consolidating at a quick pace over the last years with a growing number of publications. This consolidation can be confirmed by the variety of approaches being developed and also adapted from research in other educational levels, and the diversification of research topics, including the study of the learning of more advanced mathematical topics, university teaching practices and teachers' training, the use of resources by teachers and students, and mathematics as a service subject, to cite just a few. TWG14 was launched in CERME7 and since then, several initiatives have been taken: a Research in Mathematics Education Special Issue, links with related working groups in ICME and EMF, and recently, the initiation of an ERME topic conference, INDRUM (International Network for Didactic Research in University Mathematics). In CERME10 we wish to cement and further this work, as well as welcoming contributions from across the board of research approaches and topics.
We welcome research papers (8 pages max.) and poster proposals (2 pages). We are primarily, although not exclusively, interested in papers addressing:

*   the teaching and learning of advanced university mathematics topics (including proof);
     .transition issues "at the entrance" to university mathematics, or beyond;
*   the preparation and training of university mathematics teachers;
     .challenges for, and novel approaches to, teaching mathematics at university level (including the teaching of students in non-mathematics degrees);
     . the role of ICT tools (e.g. CAS) and other resources (e.g. textbooks, books and other materials) in the teaching and learning of university mathematics;
     . assessing the learning and teaching of mathematics at university level;
* collaborative research between university mathematics teachers and researchers in mathematics education; and,
     . theoretical and methodological approaches to research into the teaching and learning of university mathematics.

Papers and poster proposals should use the CERME template, and conform to the guidelines for authors as outlined on the CERME 10 website. CERME10 uses a submission website. An author submits a paper on the website (uploading it as a .doc or .docx file, and providing the required information, in particular the TWG number).

Each paper will be peer-reviewed by two persons from among those who submit papers to this TWG. Please expect to be asked to review up to two papers yourself. The group leaders will decide about the acceptance of posters.

Important dates

* 15th September 2016: Initial submission by authors on the online submission system.
* 2nd November 2016: Preliminary decisions on papers sent.
* 10th November 2016: Preliminary decisions on posters sent.
* 24th November 2016: The authors send a revised version if needed.
*   5th December 2016:      Final decisions sent.
* 12th December 2016: Final version uploaded on the online submission system.
* 13th January 2017: Papers available on CERME 10 website
