A post of head of maths has come up at The West Bridgford School which is a Local comprehensive serving West Bridgford - an area of Nottinghamshire just to the south of the city of Nottingham. The school is looking for a new head of mathematics. I am a community governor of the school.

I am wondering if anyone on this list might know of someone who could be interested - or could pass this message on to others. The post has been advertised but is being re-advertised.

The school has a largely but not exclusively fairly affluent catchment and regularly has one of the highest levels of GCSE and A level achievement in Nottinghamshire.

The school had technology specialist status until April when it obtained Academy status. As such it is now able to take advantage of the financial and curriculum flexibilities to which these second wave academies have access.

The mathematics department has benefited over the years from considerable staffing stability but the retirement of the current head of mathematics has created an opportunity for a new appointment. The department is open to innovative and creative approaches to the curriculum and are keen to appoint someone who feels they can take the work of the school and the department forward.

Information can be obtained from the headteacher, Rob McDonough, (RMcDonough at wbs.eu.com) and anyone interested is invited to contact him.

Peter
