I understand it will involve some 16 months work in Uganda over 3 years. I cannot commit that amount of time. They are therefore seeking someone who could do the work. They will pay ?8000 per month plus expenses over the 16 months. I attach herewith the ToR for the position together with a Work Schedule. If you are interested please contact: Suzanne Angus Consultancy Services Manager Consultancy Services Team e mail suzanne.angus at hlsp.org Tel: +44 (0) 131 221 2377 Fax: +44 (0) 131 221 2399 Otherwise please send it onto to others. Please keep in touch if you get the position. As I am doing some work in Uganda myself I would be most interested in how the project pans out. Unfortunately however our Maths Curriculum Specialist is now not available for the project so we need to put forward a replacement. It is a little easier now as we have changed the post so it is not full time in country but has staggered inputs. We realised it was difficult for people to commit to long term overseas so we have tried to shorten the inputs so that this is a better fit with people's availability and to fit with the preferences of NCDC. I attach the more detailed TORs for the Maths Curriulum Specialist and the full staffing schedule for information. Can we ask if you be interested now that the inputs have shortened? Or if you might know of anyone who would be interested? I look forward to hearing from you. Evidence from research' http://www.events.soton.ac.uk/event/ev:cu-gwgjlnpf-xndphr/ Professor Lianghuo Fan will present a critical review of research that was aimed to investigate the reasons behind Singapore students' so-called top performance in mathematics as revealed in the international comparative studies over the last decade. Focus will be on his own research in this area. Professor Fan will then summarise the main reasons based on the evidence from different studies and discuss the implications and issues related to this topic, including misunderstandings and assumptions that are not supported by the available research evidence. Cordeiro participated in the writing and launch of the Concreto Manifesto, proclaiming a rupture with figurative art. In the mid 1960s the artist started a partnership with Professor Giorgio Moscati, a physicist at the University of S?o Paulo, in order to produce computer art. The duo made a series of artworks based on combinatorial analysis including images generated by derived functions. This seminar discusses the scenario that led Cordeiro to approach the mathematical rigour to produce artworks that addressed social, aesthetic and technological questions. FABRIZIO AUGUSTO POLTRONIERI is a Brazilian artist and mathematician. His PhD thesis at the Pontifical Catholic University of S?o Paulo (PUC-SP) was titled ?An analysis of the role of chance in computer art: Reflections on the relationship between aesthetic and informational systems of communication?.
