[Maths-Education] about bouncing messages

Dear colleagues,

it seems messages to this list are now moderated due to the risk of virus
spreading. Checking messages individually for viruses can become a useless
waste of somebody's time.

We used to have that problem with our server's lists. Actually I had found
out that one can easily pretend to be a legitimate user and send messages
that -- the list being trusted -- may have attachments that will be open
by many.

There is no practical way to validate true users (although that is
possible, for instance, only posting messages through a website using
passwords).

The simple solution we found was to disable attachments. That also
disables HTML. Judging by most of the messages on this list, though, that
would not be a problem.
