Dr Susan Picker
University Neighborhood High School / New York University

16th July 2007
4 - 5.30 pm

Abstract
A report of an international research study (n = 476) in which pupils
from five countries, ages 12-13, in a variation of Margaret Meade’s
"Draw a Scientist Test" were asked to "draw a mathematician at work".
The images which were produced inspired an intervention to
investigate whether negative stereotypes could be changed through
meeting with a diverse panel of mathematicians.

Venue:

Room G8, Franklin Wilkins Building Annex, Waterloo Road.

The entrance to the School of Education is on Waterloo Road, just off
Waterloo Bridge.
