[Maths-Education] Mathematics meets Art in London, August 2006

*Mathematics meets Art in London*: The Bridges Conference 4th - 9th August
(at the Institute of Education, Bedford Way, WC1H 0AL) brings together
mathematicians and scientists, visual artists, sculptors, textile artists,
musicians to explore the connections between mathematics and art. Over 100
papers and workshops will be presented over three days, with two excursion
days. Plus art exhibition. Reduced registration fees for teachers, and
single day registration also available.

The Conference includes two FREE events open to all: Musical Evening, Monday
7 August at 7.30pm - performance and discussion to illustrate, through
music, how mathematics is intertwined with human activity and creativity.
Family Day and Mathematics Masterclasses, Wednesday 9 August, 10am - 5pm;
come and hear lectures by distinguished mathematics communicators
(pre-booking required - free, ages 12+) and enjoy hands-on mathematical
activities (ages 5 - 105).
