This is to confirm that a post in mathematics education at the University of
Southampton (UK) is currently being advertised. This new post reflects
expansion of the successful mathematics education team at Southampton.

May 2005.

We are looking for someone experienced in, and committed to, either primary
(elementary school) mathematics education or to secondary (high school)
mathematics education, evidence by, for example, at least 5 years recent
successful primary or secondary school teaching experience and/or experience
of initial teacher education as a mentor/tutor in school/college, or in
higher education. The post is tenable from 1st September 2005.

The person appointed will contribute principally to the teaching of the
mathematics education programme within either the primary PGCE or the
secondary PGCE. Evidence of relevant research, or research potential, is
important as the appointment is to be made at lecturer level with a
research-led contract. The mathematics education team at Southampton
provides a very supportive environment in which to develop, or enhance, a
research profile.
