This summer you will have the best opportunity for many years to gain =
new inspiration for the development of math teaching and math education =
research. The 10th International Congress on Mathematical Education will =
take place in Copenhagen on July 4 - 11. We hope to attract 3.000 =
mathematics educators and teachers. The participants will be together =
for an entire week at the DTU campus in Lyngby, just north of =
Copenhagen.

Next deadline for registration is May 31. The registration fee of 3.600 =
Dkr. gives access to a six-day extensive scientific programme, a copy of =
the proceedings as well as an exciting social programme. The congress =
web site, www.ICME-10.dk gives you all the programme details - it can =
also be used to register.=20

In broad outline the programme includes:

=B7        Eight plenary sessions with world leading scholars in =
mathematics education=20

=B7        Eighty regular lectures on specific issues, many of direct =
relevance for mathematics teaching at secondary level or in teacher =
education.

=B7        29 topic study groups, each organised by a panel of =
international experts in the field.

=B7        24 discussion groups where an organising team of experts sets =
the scene for discussions among the participants on specific issues of =
teaching and learning mathematics.  =20

=B7        A thematic afternoon with five parallel mini-conferences: =
Teachers of mathematics, Mathematics education in society and culture, =
Mathematics and mathematics education, Technology in mathematics =
education, and Perspectives on research in mathematics education from =
other disciplines.

=B7        Workshops and Sharing Experiences Groups on different themes, =
such as new teaching methods, new mathematical topics for teaching, TI =
based mathematics teaching, and resistance to innovation in the =
educational systems.

=B7        National presentations. The Nordic countries present an =
overview of the educational systems and give some examples of research =
in mathematics education. Also Mexico, Korea, Romania and Russia will =
give national presentations.

=B7        A poster exhibition with more than 250 posters to which it is =
still possible to contribute.

Apart from the advantage of participating in the scientific programme, =
math teachers will profit from meeting and discussing with colleagues =
from other countries and from other parts of the educational system. =
ICME-10 will give you a lot of new inspiration to share with your own =
environment in order to develop your practice of mathematics teaching =
