UNIVERSITY OF CAMBRIDGE MPHIL IN MATHEMATICS EDUCATION

The Faculty of Education, University of Cambridge, offers a one-year, 
full-time MPhil course in Mathematics Education, beginning in October. The 
course adopts an international perspective, and explores two longitudinal 
themes - pedagogy and social justice. The following topics are addressed in 
detail:

the nature of mathematics; the aims and purposes of mathematics teaching; 
language in mathematics education; the nature of mathematical learning; 
comparative mathematics education; mathematical problem solving; teacher 
knowledge; mathematics and information and communications technologies; the 
assessment of mathematical learning

In addition, course participants follow a course of research training.

The teaching team includes: Paul Andrews, Julia Anghileri, Peter Huckstep, 
Tim Rowland, Ken Ruthven and Cathy Smith
