[Maths-Education] graduate studies in the UK

I have an undergraduate student in one of my mathematics education courses who is interested in applying for a scholarship to study at the graduate level in the UK. He would like to know what graduate study in the UK looks like in terms of how it is structured and what he would be expected to do as a graduate student.
