I am delighted to announce that Barbara Jaworski will be coming to give a
seminar at Leeds on Thursday 19th December and you are welcome to come to
this 'Centre for Science and Mathematics Education' open seminar. 

*THEORY AND PRACTICE IN MATHEMATICS TEACHER EDUCATION AND TEACHING DEVELOPMENT
 BARBARA JAWORSKI, UNIVERSITY OF OXFORD: 
I will introduce some ideas of aspects of theory and practice in
mathematics teacher education, related particularly to recently published
papers in the journal JMTE (Journal of Mathematics Teacher Education) of
which I am editor.
I will mention a theoretical framework I have been working on myself
recently which relates research into mathematics teaching development with
the development of mathematics teaching, building particularly on
relationships between mathematics teachers and those who research
classroom processes.
I will try to stimulate discussion about how we see teaching developing and
how teacher educators can contribute best to developmental processes
widely.*


We meet for tea from 4pm for 4:30 start. The seminar finishes at 6pm and
then we plan on going to a local resturant for dinner (we'll probably go to
Dino's an 'Italiany' one near the railway station - please email Melissa on
m.m.rodd@education.leeds.ac.uk if you'd like to join us for dinner)
