Well, I'm pleased that it isn't me (alone) who finds this silly.
I was relieved by Anne's quick comment in that respect!

which is sort of how I tend to use the word.

Without thinking at all I suppose that I have followed Lebesque all 
my life - and thanks to Dick I can claim an authority for my practice!

Looking a little further in the NNS document it quickly becomes clear 
that they are not (cannot) sustain the distinction.
