May I draw colleagues' attention to one correction to the message (below)
posted earlier by Barbara Jaworski? 30th September is the deadline for the
submission of papers, not just abstracts. The requirements for length and
format of papers is the same as that for PME. The url
http://www.erme.uni-osnabrueck.de/cerme2/Paper_format.htm
should be visited for details.

> The chief aims of ERME are to promote Communication, Cooperation and
> Collaboration in Research in Mathematics Education in Europe.
> Fundamentally we need to know more about the research which has been done
> and is ongoing, and the research groups and research
> interests in different European countries. We need to provide opportuniti=
es
> for collaboration in research areas and for inter-European
> cooperation between researchers in joint research projects. This conferen=
ce
> is designed to promote these aims.
>=20
> The conference is designed to foster a communicative spirit. It
> deliberately and distinctively moves away from research presentations by
> individuals towards collaborative group work. Its main feature is to be a
> number of Thematic Groups whose members will work together
> in a common research area. There are 7 groups in this conference.
> Researchers wishing to present a paper at the conference should submit
> the paper to one of these groups.

> Addresses of the Group Coordinators will follow.)
>=20
>=20
> Each group will have 3 or 4 group leaders, from 3 or 4 different countrie=
s,
> each having research interest and expertise in the theme of the
> group. One of these leaders
> will coordinate the group (group coordinator) and be responsible for
> decisions and actions. Group leaders will receive papers and will
> organise a rigorous review process involving the prospective participants
> who have sent in the papers.
>=20
> If you wish to submit a paper to this conference it should be sent to the
> group coordinator of ONE of these groups. (For details see:
> http://www.erme.uni-osnabrueck.de/cerme2/Paper_format.htm) If you are
> unsure of which group your paper best fits, please send it to
> one group, but indicate other groups to which it might also be relevant.
> The receiving group coordinator will decide together with the other
> group leaders on its designation and, if necessary, forward it to another
> group, informing you of what has been done. Please inform also
> the conference Secretariat by sending the title of your paper and the
> proposed group to which you have submitted it. The Secretariat will
> coordinate its progress within the groups.
>=20
> Accepted papers will be 'presented' to group members in advance of the
> conference. They will be distributed in electronic form, about two
> weeks before the conference begins, so that they can be read as preparati=
on
> for the conference. There will be no presentations as such
> during the group work, although references will be made to the distribute=
d
> papers. The purpose of this practice is to enable groups to
> work, rather than time being taken up with presentations.
>=20
> The group leaders will organise the work of the group as follows:
>=20
> 1.Receive papers from prospective members of the group.
> 2.Read the papers and organise a peer review process.
> 3.Receive reviewers comments, decide on papers for inclusion in the
> programme and possibly on subgroupings within the main
>        group.
> 4.Distribute accepted papers to group members before the conference.
> 5.Organise a programme of work to include references to presented
> papers, large and small group discussions, working sessions for
> developing common ideas and research programmes etc. The spirit =
of
> this work should be as democratic and inclusive as is
> possible. Papers which are not distributed for 'presentation'=20
> should be available at the conference for reading by group
>        members.
> 6.Facilitate ongoing work by the group or subgroups formed during the
> working sessions.
> 7.Organise informal or formal collection(s) of papers for distributio=
n
> and/or publication.
>=20
>=20
> Schedule
> Deadline for sending papers: 30th September
> The papers will be reviewed by 30th November
> Deadline for sending the revised papers to the conference secretariat: 31=
st
> January
> =20
> =20
>=20
> Poster Presentations
>=20
> Poster presentations are designed for new researchers to present their
> work. Posters will be displayed throughout the conference, with
> sessions for discussion with presenters at their posters. The content of
> posters should be firmly in the area of research in mathematics
> education. Abstracts for posters should be submitted, for approval, to th=
e
> Programme Committee via the Conference Secretariat on the
> poster form. Details of size and format of posters are provided later.

> could participate at CERME 2.
> The organizers are able to extend your accommodation in Mari=E1nsk=E9 L=
=E1zne,
> should you so wish. The organizers need to know it by
> September 30th to be able to book the extra accommodation.
