[Maths-Education] Comparing exam results

Sorry to bother colleagues with this, but does anyone have references
to studies which purport to compare performance on 16+ maths
examinations from, say, the 70s onwards?

Many thanks

p.s. I think Clare is a brave student, although that bravery might
be tinged with ignorance, who is doing her best within a rather
limited view of what is possible. I would hate to grade her, as I
hate grading students here, some of whom would be progressing well if
they taught lessons like hers, while others would be seen as working
rather superficially. Peter, why is it best to be honest about
subjective judgements?
