<p class="MsoNormal"><b><span style="color:black">1. Pint of Science festival 2026</span></b><span style="color:black"><o:p></o:p></span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="color:black">Pint of Science (<a href="https://pintofscience.com/">https://pintofscience.com/</a>) is a global, volunteer-led science festival that happens once per year across 500 cities around the world, where thousands of
researchers present their work to the public in local pubs. I'm part of the organisational committee in Nottingham this year, where the festival is taking place on the evenings of the 18th, 19th and 20th May. We're currently at the stage where we are looking
for volunteers who would like to speak - the branch of the event I'm responsible for (alongside Chris Morley and Margot Roeth who are also from physics) is called "Atoms to Galaxies". While a lot of the speaking slots have been filled already, there are still
a few open, so I'm putting the call out to all the astronomers and particle theorists of CAPT.<o:p></o:p></span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="color:black">This opportunity is open to everybody: professors, postdocs and PhD students alike. The plan is to get 2 or 3 speakers
<span style="background:white">per evening to talk about what kind of research they do to the general public for maybe 15-20 minutes, followed by some friendly questions. The events will run from about 7:30-10:00pm ish, and the topic of the talks would be entirely
up to the speakers. Anyone who wants to speak would also of course be rewarded with free drinks for the evening. In between the talks there will additionally be some kind of fun activity for the audience e.g. a science-related pub quiz, that we're going to
sort out ourselves, but if anybody has any brilliant ideas you are welcome to propose them.</span></span><o:p></o:p></p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="color:black;background:white">PubhD is a very similar event to Pint of Science that I have been involved in organising for a fair few months now. It is essentially a much smaller-scale, local, early-career oriented version
of Pint of Science. Again, the idea is to get 3 speakers to talk about what they do to the public in a local pub (the Barley Twist, near the train station), the difference being that the speaking slots are exclusively reserved for PhDs/Postdocs, and they are
not restricted to just scientists. The event runs once per month, usually on the second Wednesday of the month, from about 7:30-9:30pm, with the following format:</span><span style="color:black"><o:p></o:p></span></p>
