The impact of quasar feedback on galaxy and cluster hot atmospheres is still largely unknown. This is principally due to a lack of low-redshift analogues for which we can spatially resolve the quasar's immediate environment. I will present results from a
new large Chandra program on H1821+643, which is the nearest quasar hosted by a galaxy cluster. Using detailed simulations to subtract the quasar light, I will show that, at the cluster centre, the gas temperature drops precipitously to <0.4keV and the density
increases by over an order of magnitude. Looking to the future, I will also discuss the future of high spatial resolution X-ray observations with AXIS.</div>
